Safe Space provides needed counseling for thousands of individuals and families from disadvantaged areas who are at-risk for foster care placement, have children diagnosed with ADHD, are victims of child abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence, as well as those infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS. We help parents and caregivers achieve emotional stability so that they can provide healthy, safe environments for their children. Safe Space counselors seek to increase parent competency and support family functioning.
Family Resource Centers
Our Family Resource Centers offer counseling
and case management services to families at-risk of losing their children to
foster care placement due to abuse or neglect. Ninety-seven percent of these
high-risk families are able to avoid foster care placement of their children.
The centers offer counseling for substance abuse and domestic violence, parenting
courses, a community advisory board, job readiness training for teens, homework
assistance, and women`s peer education. The number of cases referred to the
programs due to domestic violence issues continues to rise, and Safe Space
has responded with an innovative
new program for these mothers |
