WEBSITE
Safe Space NYC, Inc. wants you to find our website useful and to understand your privacy rights while on the website.   Please take a few minutes to review this Privacy Policy. By using this Site, you are consenting to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as set forth in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms outlined below, do not access Safe Space’s website.

You may access the current version of this Privacy Policy by clicking on the button marked "Privacy Policy" at the bottom of each page of this Site.   In the event that this Privacy Policy changes, Safe Space will post an updated policy on this page, with a notification link to this page from the home page www.safespacenyc.org.

This Privacy Policy was last revised on January 1, 2006.

Non-Personal Identifying Information—
When you access our website, we use standard web server technology to collect technical information, such as the name of your Internet service provider, its IP address, the name of your operating system (such as Windows® or MacIntosh®), your browser type (such as Netscape® or Internet Explorer®), the length of time you spend on our site during a visit, the pages you visit, and so on. This information does not identify you personally, and we do not attempt to tie this technical information to any of the personal information you provide. We use this information to improve this Site and make it more compatible with the technology used by our visitors. Safe Space also uses "cookies," small pieces of information used to identify individual computers accessing a website.

Safe Space uses this information only in the aggregate. It does not combine non-personal identifying information with personal identifying information, commonly known as "online profiling." At no time is personal information stored in a cookie.  It uses this information to assess aggregate visitor volume and interest, for example, which site pages are being visited most frequently.

Safe Space shares aggregated, non-identifying, demographic information about the website’s usage with its sponsors and partners. For example, Safe Space might disclose to its donors that 1,000,000 people visited safespacenyc.org in a given year.

Personal Identifying Information
"Personal information" means information about an identified or identifiable individual. Your personal information may include your name, your address, and your e-mail address.  If you voluntarily provide personal identifying information through online forms, Safe Space will collect and retain this information on our internal database.

The personal identifying information will be used to establish the identity of account holders in order to respond to inquiries or to deliver requested information or services. For example, if you sign up to receive Safe Space’s newsletter, Safe Space will store your name and address and send the requested newsletters to the address.   Safe Space may also send additional literature or fundraising materials to the address unless you have indicated not to do so.

Safe Space does not make personal identifying information gathered on its websites available to other organizations, but may share information with third-party business partners, in the usual course of business. For example, Safe Space may use a third-party vendor to prepare and send out our newsletters. In order to send the newsletters, Safe Space must share the postal addresses of subscribers with the vendor. Vendors that provide such services are obligated only to use this information for the purposes for which Safe Space directs them to use it; namely, providing services directly for Safe Space.

We welcome your feedback about this Site. We use your feedback to improve this Site. For this reason, we ask that you not send us any comments, feedback, ideas, questions, designs, artwork, software or any other information or materials relating to the design, functionality, or operation of this Site or service (collectively, "Feedback") that you consider to be confidential or proprietary or that you do not wish to assign to us. By submitting Feedback to us, you assign to Safe Space free of charge, all worldwide rights, title and interest in all copyrights and other intellectual property rights in the information and/or materials you submit. Safe Space will be entitled to use any Feedback you submit through this Site, and any ideas, concepts, know-how or techniques contained in any such Feedback, to improve this Site, our service or for any other purpose whatsoever. However, Safe Space will not use any Feedback you submit through this Site in a way that violates applicable privacy laws.

SUPPORTERS
Safe Space is committed to maintaining the confidence and trust of its financial supporters.

Safe Space collects the personal information that supporters provide. After someone donates to Safe Space, his or her information is added to Safe Space’s membership list. Safe Space uses this information to keep donors informed about the progress of its programs through print and online mailings and to encourage donors' continued financial support of its work.

Safe Space shares donor information with business partners as required in the usual course of business. For example, Safe Space may use a vendor to assist in the generation and distribution of written communications to donors.

When you make an online donation through safespacenyc.org, all required credit card and contact information is sent to authorize.net for verification and fraud defense before the transaction is completed.  Information entered onto Safe Space’s website is then collected on the organization’s internal database.  Please go to www.authorize.net for more information on their collection of information.
